Accounting Assistant

Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant supports the company’s financial operations by ensuring accurate recordkeeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with established accounting procedures. This role is responsible for accounts receivable and payable support, reconciliations, sales tax reporting, and maintaining detailed financial records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in Microsoft Excel, with a solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter and maintain accurate financial data related to new jobs, project updates, and change orders in company tracking spreadsheets and accounting systems.
  • Scan customer billings and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and company credit card statements monthly.
  • Maintain daily sales records and assist with related financial reporting.
  • Obtain and maintain customer tax exemption certificates to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of sales tax reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities by ensuring financial records are complete and accurate.
  • Provide financial reporting and analytical support for special projects as requested by controller.
  • Run occasional office errands and provide general administrative support to accounts payable and receivable as needed.
  • This job will be TEMP to hire after a 90 day review.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and spreadsheet management.
  • Working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger processes.
  • Experience with accounting software is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
